Karl Susman, Los Angeles Chapter President

Karl D. Susman, owner of Susman Insurance Agency, has insurance experience spanning more than 25 years. He has worked as both an exclusive insurance agent and independent insurance agent, and now also as an Insurance Expert Witness. Mr. Susman holds insurance licenses in 35 states, and in addition holds the prestigious designations of Certified Insurance Counselor, CIC, Associate in Insurance Services, AIS, Associate in Personal Insurance, API, Certified Fund Specialist, CFS, Chartered Senior Financial Planner, CSFP, Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow, LUTCF and Associate in General Insurance, AINS. He also serves on multiple committees for the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practices groups. Karl is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, a member of the American Bar Association, and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He is the newly elected President of the Forensic Expert Witness Association’s Los Angeles Chapter 2019-2020.

Dustin E. Woods, Partner, Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP

Dustin E. Woods is a partner in the general liability department of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP.   Mr. Woods has practiced in civil defense litigation for approximately 15 years.  His practice involves litigation in matters involving issues of professional liability (insurance and real estate agents/brokers), tort claims (wrongful death/catastrophic injury, products liability, sexual assault, premises liability, and motor vehicle negligence), real estate, trade secrets, land use, ground contamination, landlord/tenant and contractual disputes.  Mr. Woods has practiced in both state and federal courts in California and Nevada.    

Over the years, Mr. Woods has consulted with, prepared, deposed, defended, cross-examined and tried cases with experts in numerous fields including: hydrogeology, engineering, accident reconstruction, biomechanics, insurance and real estate broker standards of care, neuropsychology, neuropsychiatry, child psychiatry, neurology, aquatic safety, human factors, vocational rehabilitation, security, economics, and life care planning.  

Mr. Woods has been named as a 2014 SuperLawyer Rising Star, 2014 Los Angeles Magazine Outstanding Young Lawyer, 2013 SuperLawyer Rising Star, 2013 Los Angeles Magazine Outstanding Young Lawyer and has been named multiple times in Southern California Defense Counsel's Verdict Magazine.  Mr. Woods received his bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University and a juris doctor from Whittier College.
