About the Presenters:

William Acorn, P.E., FASHRAE

William R. Acorn is principal and founder of Acorn Consulting Services. A consulting mechanical engineer specializing in the built environment, he provides project analysis, forensic reconstruction, litigation support services and advanced training. With more than 40 years’ experience as a professional engineer, Mr. Acorn is an internationally recognized authority on assessing, evaluating, conceptualizing and remediating complex project design, construction and operational issues related to HVAC systems, cleanrooms, piping systems, refrigeration systems, and building and fire code compliance. He has analyzed and designed hundreds of projects including commercial facilities, institutional laboratories and cleanroom facilities for the semiconductor, medical service, bio pharm, and advanced manufacturing industries. Mr. Acorn has significant experience as an expert analyst of system design, system failures, code compliance issues and cause/effect relationships of performance issues related to the built environment. As a forensic analyst, litigation consultant and expert witness, he has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of jurisdictions with litigation values to greater than $250 MM US.
Bill is registered as a Professional Mechanical Engineer (P.E.) in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington, and is also registered with the NCEES. He has been recognized for technical achievements, innovation and foresight by peers, associates and clients, and has been conferred the status of “Fellow” in the industry-leading professional organization ASHRAE. Mr. Acorn has also attained the status of Board Certified Diplomate in Forensic Engineering granted by the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE).

Brendan J. Kennedy, CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA, ASA
Brendan J. Kennedy is a partner with ATLAS CPAs and Advisors PLLC with offices in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa and Illinois. Mr. Kennedy is responsible for the business valuation and litigation support services within the firm. Mr. Kennedy's professional experience includes over thirty-five years in the business concentrations of finance and accounting, with emphasis in business valuation, litigation support, financial analysis and presentation, forecasting, and mergers and acquisitions. He has served clients with businesses in many industries including manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, retail, healthcare, law, real estate and other professional services. Mr. Kennedy has also testified as an expert witness in the area of business valuation and economic damages in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Kennedy graduated from Iowa State University in 1983 with a BBA in Accounting. After graduation he moved to Phoenix and has worked and lived in the Valley since. He started his career with an accounting firm where he worked for two years until he started into corporate accounting in 1986. Mr. Kennedy was in corporate accounting for nearly ten years and began specializing in business valuation and litigation support in 1997. Since then he has had a wide array of experience in business valuation and performed over 1,000 business valuations in many different industries. In addition to his work, Mr. Kennedy is an active member of the Phoenix 100 Rotary Club and serves the community through his involvement in a variety of different organizations and clubs.
