This past year has brought many challenges caused by a global pandemic impacting our economy and lifestyles. Despite it all, FEWA remains committed to keeping our community safe and supported with every decision we make. As we move through this pandemic together, I want to thank each of you for your hard work and perseverance, and to reflect on what guides our decision-making during this challenging time.
Beginning in March of 2020, FEWA began transitioning our in-person chapter events to an online platform. These events were curated with our members in mind, with many of our programs centered around managing business during COVID-19. Holding virtual chapter events allowed our chapters from across the country to come together and participate in these timely topics.
In the summer of 2020, the FEWA Board made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 FEWA National Conference, not once, but twice, to protect the safety and well-being of our attendees and faculty. Because the conference planning was disrupted significantly, from revising the session schedule multiple times and changing venues and hotels to continuously updating the promotional planning for the 2020 event, registration numbers decreased from 2019. While we did receive very positive feedback from attendees, we are working diligently to host a strong conference with the same high level of presentations and to train the experts associated with FEWA.
Given the setbacks FEWA has encountered throughout the past year, FEWA will continue to provide educational offerings, networking opportunities, and the tools to continue to help turn experts into expert witnesses. This year, our organization will be placing an emphasis on enhancing the FEWA website, offering more robust and engaging virtual events, reimagining our 2021 Hybrid National Conference, and offering new resources and networking opportunities.
As you encounter challenges in the year ahead, please know FEWA is here for you. We are dedicated to showing you the value of your membership, provide timely education and the power of connections with the people in our industry. With your support, we will continue to turn experts into expert witnesses for years to come.
