New Member Spotlight - John D. Cook

John Cook, PhD is one of FEWA’s newest members. He is an expert in data privacy and joined the Houston Chapter earlier in November as an Associate member. John Cook completed a PhD in applied math at University of Texas and a postdoc at Vanderbilt University. John Cook has worked in applied math and software development, especially where they overlap, for 30 years, and has served as an expert witness in both areas.  His current emphasis is data privacy, helping companies comply with regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR. He worked as a research statistician at MD Anderson Cancer Center and an instructor at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He is now a consultant in statistics and data privacy. Clients have included large companies such as Amazon, Facebook, and Google, as well as smaller companies such as various law firms.
