Michael V. Sanders is the principal of Coastline Realty Advisors, with over 40 years experience in the appraisal and valuation of real property. His experience encompasses a broad range of property types, including single-family residential, condominiums, apartments, office, retail, industrial, special-purpose properties and vacant land. Mike also has experience with valuation of easements and encroachments, leased fee and leasehold interests, market research, statistical modeling and appraisal review.
As a principal of Bell Anderson & Sanders and previously as Director with the Real Estate Damages Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, his primary focus over the past 25+ years has been real estate damage economics and property value diminution. He has been retained as an appraisal expert in hundreds of cases, and is qualified as an expert witness in multiple venues, currently licensed as a Certified General Appraiser in the state of California.
A graduate of Cal State Fullerton in 1981, Mike attained the MAI and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute, and is also a member of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) and Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA).
Publications include several articles in periodicals including The Appraisal Journal, Valuation, Right of Way, California Lawyer, Orange County Lawyer and San Francisco Law Review. He jointly authored the Appraisal Institute text Real Estate Damages: Applied Economics and Detrimental Conditions (second edition), and was a contributor to Applications in Litigation Valuation: A Pragmatist's Guide.
As principal of Coastline Realty Advisors, he continues to focus on forensic appraisal, research, consulting and litigation support.
