Tips For Preventing Professional Liability Exposure and Avoiding E&O Claims

Doug Garmager, is an attorney with a background in professional liability defense and the representation of insurance carriers on E&O programs, including E&O insurance for expert witnesses. Throughout the presentation Doug will discuss expert performance and client relationship issues with the goal of providing tips for recognizing and avoiding situations that could lead to an E&O claim.  

Attendees can expect to learn how to:

 - Maximize client satisfaction in the performance of your expert services;
 - Addressing ethical issues, which could compromise effectiveness; and
 - Effectively handling engagement letters, email communications, and billing to enhance the client relationship and limit liability exposure.

Douglas Garmager

Douglas Garmager is a partner at Karbal, Cohen, Economou, Silk & Dunne in Chicago, Illinois.  His practice concentrates on direct defense and insurance coverage, with a focus on professional liability and the defense of Lloyd’s coverholders, Lloyd’s syndicates, condominium associations, real estate professionals, architects, engineers, and other non-medical professionals.  Mr. Garmager recently presented at the 2021 FEWA National Conference in Bellaire, Texas.
